Abstract

The halogenation of some enyl complexes of palladium(II) in dichloromethane was found to proceed with predominant retention of configuration at the carbon bearing palladium but wiht overall inversion of configuration in the presence of added halide ion in methanol. The results are interpreted in terms of an oxidative addition—reductive elimination mechanism.
