Abstract

Recent developments in the Seld of conformational analysis have brought about a reconsid, eration of many well established reactions. Such reactions have been considered from the standpoint of the reactive cosnformers which can most readily approach the transition state. Bimolecular elemination r,eactions lend themselves very readily to this type of analysis. There are several excellent revi, ews and books which are devoted partly or entirely to the study of elimination reactions (1-6). This paper will deal primarily with the ster, eochemistry and orientation of dehydrohalogenation, dehalogenation, and Hofmann eliminations reactions.
