Abstract

Statement of the Problem: The treatment of complex skeletal facial deformities is often difficult to address accurately through the traditional method of cephalometric tracing and model surgery. With three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction images generated from a computed tomography (CT) scan, virtual surgery can be preformed and surgical splints can be fabricated. This technology is new and few studies have reported its use and outcomes on patients. Accurate pre-operative diagnosis and treatment planning of these cases are of utmost importance, but are limited by the utilization of traditional diagnostic modalities and model surgery.
