Abstract

A technique for the superposition of step-wall heat-flux solutions of the boundary-layer energy equation is presented. Calculations can be made for the cases of either specified wall temperatures or wall heat fluxes. Results for various situations of interest are presented and compared to corresponding results for step-wall temperature superposition. A method for application to arbitrary wall temperatures and heat fluxes is discussed. It is seen that step-wall temperature superposition is best suited to specified wall-temperature problems while step-wall heat-flux superposition is best for cases of specified wall heat flux. For a given problem, results of the two methods are essentially the same.
