Abstract

The interaction of electromagnetic radiation with thin film devices consisting of superconducting, normal conducting, semiconducting, insulating, and magnetic materials can be used for variety of different applications. Some examples will be discussed, including laser modification for patterning and adjustment of thin film high-Tc superconducting devices, ultrafast response, and the photoinduced superconductivity in high-Tc materials which offers interesting possibilities for optoelectronical conversation and controllable weak links in superconducting electronics.
