Abstract

In this new section of the Bulletin, Pat McBride will describe the life and work of some of those pioneers who have been instrumental in the development of peritoneal dialysis. Mr. McBride, an experienced historian who is Director of Sales and Technical Education, Artificial Organs Division of Travenol Laboratories, Inc. has already written a successful history of hemodialysis (Genesis of the Artificial Kidney). The Editor and the Editorial Board of the Bulletin feel fortunate that Mr. McBride has agreed to undertake this new section of the Bulletin and thank him for his efforts in preserving the history of peritoneal dialysis. The readers of the Bulletin are encouraged to participate in this undertaking by passing on suitable information concerning the history of peritoneal dialysis and are invited, if they wish, to suggest individuals who, or events that, deserve recognition. In this first issue, Mr. McBride describes the contributions of Dr. Stephen Rosenak one of the fathers of peritoneal dialysis.
