Abstract

In this letter, a novel magnetic integrated step-down DCDC converter based on Buck topology is proposed. The output inductor of conventional Buck converter is replaced by a magnetic integrated component in order to achieve low current ripple and high power density. The magnetic integrated component includes three windings: input inductor, output inductor and auxiliary inductor. The coupling of input and output inductors helps to achieve continuous operating characteristics of the input current. Moreover, the auxiliary inductor along with the auxiliary capacitor are able to reduce the input current ripple significantly. After finished the detailed small signal analysis and magnetic integration optimization design, a 10V output voltage converter with maximum 10A output current has been built and tested. The experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed converter; that also means the proposed method shows great potential for low current ripple and high power density applications.
