Abstract
The roles of stem cell niches in tissue,which provide microenvironment for cells,has attracted more and more attention.The fine structure of hair follicles supplies a perfect system for studying biological characteristics of stem cells.There are many stem cells in hair follicle bulge,and all of them have their own niches,of which,the niches for epithelial and melanocytic stem cells are the most extensively studied.The function of hair follicle stem cells is regulated by intrinsic factors,which are modulated by extrinsic signaling molecules produced by surrounding cells.Exploring the roles of stem cells and their niches in the development of cutaneous tumors may provide new ideas for their treatment.
