Abstract

The feeding galleries of lepidopterous larvae (Laspeyresia pseudotsugae Evans) in bark of young Douglas-fir were extensively cankered, resulting in permanent damage to the trees. The chief fungus associated with the cankering was Pragmopora pithya [(Fr.) Fr.] Groves. The damage occurred in plantations on Vancouver Island and adjacent mainland of British Columbia, Canada and Washington, U.S.A.
