Abstract

IN some seasons cotton seedlings (Gossypiumbarbadense L.) in the irrigated Gezira area of the Sudan suffer considerable damage from stem canker caused by the fungus Macrophomina phaseoli (Maubl.) Ashby, also known as Rhizoctonia bataticola (mycelium) and Sclerotium bataticola (sclerotia).
