Abstract

The 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Lutheran reform offers to the Catholics and the Lutherans an opportunity to reflect together on an event that determined the history of the European continent and that until now influences the Western Christendom. Furthermore, it is also a chance to establish a clear and competent comparison with the original intentions of Martin Luther and his programme of reform that continues to represent a ’spiritual and theological challenge both for the Catholics and the Lutherans of our times’.
