Abstract

Steinmetz was regarded as one of the most brilliant engineers of his day, yet he published a book containing a section on the effect of one radio antenna on another which seems to be wrong. This article compares Steinmetz's analysis with a `modern' approach using the magnetic vector potential and tracks down the discrepancy.
