Abstract
With the addition of fibres, the physical properties of concrete are much improved. From the various fibres tested (carbon, glass, synthetic, asbestos and steel), steel emerged as the most significant. The strength increase, latent energy formation and the elimination of conventional reinforcing methods allows this material -- steel fibre shotcrete -- to become an interesting and economical alternative to normal and reinforced shotcrete.
