Abstract

ABSTRACT Steam stream drying is minimized energy expenditure for water removal. A fast moving steam stream at low pressure and moderate superheat is charged with moist material. Heat is added to the stream at a rate equal to the desuperheating flux caused by the suspended moist material as it dries. Rapidly dewatered macerial is separated from the transport steam via a cyclone or baghouse. Steam generated from material moisture is continuously relieved, and the remaining steam is recycled to the moist material charge point.
