Abstract
This paper describes the solar photovoltaic power utilization in the Brushless DC motor (BLDC) driven Electric vehicle. The Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) array is designed for 1.5 kW and the maximum available power is extracted by the boost converter using the Incremental conductance MPPT algorithm. Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) can play a major role to control the speed of BLDC motor. The BLDC motor is commutated electronically such that the switching operation of VSI takes place at necessary frequency which reduces the switching loss. The dc link voltage is sustained at 48V to drive the BLDC motor at various operating conditions. No current sensing element and additional control is needed for maintaining the speed. The main moto of the work is to interlinking the Solar with the BLDC to drive for EV applications as well as the investigations are done in steady state and dynamic operating conditions. The performance of the designed drive system is analyzed under different conditions using MATLAB/Simulink.
