Abstract
Steady state and transient heat-transport processes through a stagnant water layer between two horizontal circular cylinders, have been investigated experimentally. Concentric as well as eccentric configurations have been realized in an experimental set-up. Heat generated by electric current in the inner cylinder creates a constant heat flux condition. The heat is transported by free convective motion. Correlations fitting the data for the steady state have been obtained. Most of the transient results can be described with the aid of simplified mathematical models.
