Abstract

Statutory and mandatory training in healthcare refers to the training that healthcare assistants and assistant practitioners (HCAs and APs) are legally required to complete. Statutory and mandatory are two terms that the HCA and AP will frequently come across; they are often discussed in legal and regulatory contexts. This article provides readers with an overview of statutory and mandatory training, providing explanations of what is meant by both terms. There is a requirement that the HCA and AP attend training updates as dictated by the employer. The article offers insight into training rights of employees and the obligations of employers.
