Abstract
This paper is devoted to a discussion of the nomenclatural status and of the type-specimens of the nominal species Emys pseudogeographica Gray, 1831 and Emys lesueuri Gray, 1831. A lectotype is selected among the four remaining syntypes of Emys pseudogeographica, collected and first described by Lesueur, and now in the Paris Museum collections ; the species should now be known as Graptemys pseudogeographica (Gray, 1831). As for Emys lesueuri, this species was described on the basis of a single specimen of the British Museum collections ; this name is a junior synonym of the name Graptemys geographica (Lesueur, 1817).
