Abstract

In the discussion on the new territorial division of Poland, some experts present views on the need to change the current division into voivodeships. Reforms in this direction are based mainly on arguments resulting from studies and analyses of the country’s spatial development. If such reforms were to take place, they must take into account the multifaceted political and legal status of the voivodeship, its importance as a European region and the highest local government unit in the state, as well as the government administration in the voivodeship.
