Abstract

LHCb is a second generation experiment on b physics which will run from the beginning of the LHC operation. The goals of the experiment are systematic measurements of CP violation and rare decays in the B-meson system with unprecedented precisions. By measuring CP violation in many different decay modes of Bd and Bs mesons and comparing the results with the predictions from the Standard Model, the experiment will search for new physics. This talk summarises the present status of the preparation and construction of the LHCb experiment. Details can be found in the technical design reports of the respective subsystems.
