Abstract

Climate change is considered to be the greatest long-term challenge to human beings. South Korea has to play a considerable role in dealing with this human challenge, given it is positioned at 9th level in greenhouse gas emission and 12th level in economic volume. The South Korea government has formulated national climate change action plans every three year since 1990. In 2008, new national action plans are under preparation. This new plans include reduction of greenhouse gas emission, adaptation to climate change and international cooperation. This paper aims to introduce and discuss the direction of main policies within new action plans.
