Abstract

The status or role of a woman in society is taken into account by contrasting her role with the males in society in various areas of life, such as employment, health, family and other significant sectors of society. The people who are able for reading and writing in any language older than six years are considered literate according to the last official Indian Census 2011. In this paper we will analyze the women’s literacy rates in Mewat district and the basis of this analysis are secondary sources such as surveys and official Indian census of 2001 and 2011. Unequal literacy in the name of gender discrimination is the product of cultural biases against female education. There is a major difference in literacy rates among males and females in both the Mewat District rural and urban areas. The underdevelopment and low literacy rates among the peoples in that area play a pivotal role in achieving girl’s education in the Mewat region. The Government will take steps to ensure that women’s education in the region is safe and efficient.
