Abstract

A cross-sectional study was carried out between May and October 1990 on 1156 Igbo school girls aged 9 to 18 years. By systematic random sampling, these girls were selected from primary and secondary school in Enugu, Nigeria. Their mean heights ranged from 131.3+/-0.1 to 165.8+/-0.1cm while the mean weight ranged from 25.6+/-4.1 to 56.0+/-7.4kg.
