Abstract
Within the limited time which your committee has had in which to give consideration to the subject of statistics of production and marketing of dairy products it has been impossible for the committee to formulate and conduct a definite study of the subject. Its report, therefore, cannot represent all that might be said on the subject. It is the purpose of this report to present a review of rather meagre observations which have been made, and to bring to the attention of the Association the need of a more systematized method of obtaining, compiling, and using statistics relating to the production and marketing of dairy products as they may be used in the more intelligent study of dairy conditions as they apply both to the production and marketing of dairy products. An effort was made by the committee to assemble such statistics as are now available from various sources including those of municipal, state, and federal departments of government.
