Abstract

The statistics of the instantaneous intensity, carrier number and frequency fluctuations in CW operated single-mode semiconductor lasers is studied in the case in which the evolution of these quantities can be described through a set of linear rate equations. We show how, under the above hypothesis, a Gaussian probability density function results both for a free-running or an external-loaded configuration.
