Abstract

Discusses the significance and necessity of statistics from an engineering perspective. Somehow, most mathematicians miss the ability to communicate basic statistical concepts to electrical engineering students. The world is still waiting for an intuitive approach to familiarize student engineers with this field. And that is very necessary. The properties of large collections of objects, people, events, and measurements are captured with statistics. When the propulsion and construction of a rocket are known, a meteorite is targeted with unbelievable precision. But throwing a few dice require statistics. Statistics are perhaps the only mathematical tool without a counterpart in reality.
