Statistical prognosis of the change in hair color from infancy to adult life

Abstract

Based on a large-scale investigation of eye color and hair color among the Viennese population (N=16.227) the age-linked change in the various hair colors was observed in a cross-sectional study and the probable age-linked change in the color of children's hair for each age category was computed with the help of regression techniques. For practical application, the results are summarized in a table. An exact description of the method of curve-fitting by orthogonal polynoms, a discussion of the literature, the checking of the statistical method on actual findings in people and the bibliography are all dealt with in detail in the original work.
