Abstract

The exponential power distribution is an extreme-value type model which can assume a bathtub-shaped hazard function. It is useful in modeling the lifetimes of a wide variety of electronic as well as certain mechanical components. Statistical procedures for the exponential power distribution, including maximum likelihood estimators, least-squares parameter estimators, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit tests are developed. Numerical examples are illustrated along with computer code.
