Abstract

The statistical description of the evolution of a system of charged particles in an external electromagnetic field in which radiation is incident is considered. It is shown that the macroscopic characteristics of the electromagnetic field can be obtained using multitime particle distribution functions and the distribution function of the initial state of the incident radiation. Equations for the single-point single-particle distribution function and two-point pair and singleparticle distribution functions are obtained. It is shown that the energy-momentum tensor of the electromagnetic field radiated by the particles can be expressed in terms of the two latter distribution functions. An expression for the radiation energy current density of a collisionless plasma is found.
