Abstract

This paper presents a statistical evaluation of a new technique for Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA). The new technique is based on the time-frequency distribution (TFD). Unlike the Fourier transform based (SFRA) which is a 1-dimensional representation, a TFD is a 2-dimensional representation where both time and frequency are present in one plot. Moreover, a 2-dimensional cross-correlation coefficient (CRC) was used for the proposed technique instead of 1-dimentional CRC which is used for the existing SFRA method. To assess the strength of the proposed technique, Monte-Carlo simulations are used and the average 1-dimentional and 2-dimentional cross correlation coefficients are measured for both SFRA and TFD, respectively.
