Abstract

The problems on determining the design fatigue resistance characteristics of materials and structural elements by using methods of the statistical theory of fatigue failure similarity are considered. The results of vast number of fatigue tests conducted by various researchers and research and production enterprises for samples of different sizes, models and full-scale parts have been subjected to statistical analysis. In order to justify the similarity criterion for fatigue failure in a wide range of durability and fracture probabilities, we have obtained correcting relations that allow us to estimate the characteristics of fatigue failure resistance on the basis of the median fatigue curve of standard samples and reference parameters of the similarity theory without the need to test full-scale structural elements.
