Abstract
Determination of magnetic field direction is an important issue in aeromagnetic data processing and interpretation as well as in data inversion. In this work, we present a new approach to estimate the magnetic field direction from aeromagnetic data. The proposed technique is based on cross correlation between the Analytic Signal and Horizontal Gradient magnitudes of the magnetic anomalies distribution reduced to the pole. Application to synthetic data shows the efficiency of the proposed tool prior to its application to actual data.
