The May 2003 issue featured a special sectionof papers on StatisticalLiteracy, and theFebruary 2004 issue featured papers on the First Course in Computational Statistics. An InvitedSession on this topic, sponsoredby TAS, is scheduled for the Joint Statistical Meetings in August. We plan to have invited and contributed discussion on the paper “Statistical Research: Some Advice for Beginners” by Hamada and Sitter (page TKKK of this issue) for the August 2004 issue. In addition, we plan a paper and discussion on statistical aspects of the controversialBCS (Bowl ChampionshipSystem) ranking methodologyused to determine the best American college football teams.
