Abstract

To determine a function of size distribution of debris behind a perforated shield, we have studied diameter distribution of craters produced on the target, which was placed behind a thin shield. The distribution parameters are established to be connected with the characteristics of impact conditions. Based on statistical representations of the material strength, we have developed the model for fragmentation of a projectile, which allows us to explain why the size distribution of debris obeys the Rosin - Rammler (or Weibull) law.
