Abstract

Differential cross sections near ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.}=90\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ are calculated using an incoherent sum of direct-channel resonances with exponentially increasing density. Good agreement with the data is obtained for the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}p$, ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$, and $\overline{p}p$ elastic cross sections. Two-body inelastic processes and the exotic $\mathrm{pp}$ and ${K}^{+}p$ elastic cross sections near 90\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} are discussed.
