Abstract

Industries and authorities are making efforts to improve turbofan engine’s reliability. Service history could provide good in-sight of the engine’s behavior. Based on service experiences of certain turbofan engine for decades, the IFSD (In-Flight-Shutdown) rate is calculated to every period of engine life. With this data, statistical hypothesis tests were conducted. The results can’t reject a hypothesis of same average IFSD rate between early stage and late stage in engine life. Both subgroups of new engines and overhauled engines are considered in this analysis.
