Abstract

The polynomial chaos (PC) methods are employed in this paper to study the statistical properties of the shielding effectiveness of an enclosure with an aperture under uncertainties. The basic idea is to use a set of orthogonal polynomials to approximate the random process by expanding the analytical formula for the shielding effectiveness proposed by M. P. Robinson. Stochastic Galerkin and Stochastic Collocation methods are adopted to calculate the expansion coefficients with their results validated by the traditional Monte Carlo method. Stochastic Collocation method shows better efficiency over Stochastic Galerkin method, especially when multiple random parameters are considered.
