Abstract

This study investigates the path loss model of a Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) for on-body measurements in the 50GHz microwave band using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The path loss model is obtained by measuring the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of a WBAN on-body link at different frequencies in the 50GHz band. The measured data is used to fit the probability density function (PDF) using five different distributions, and the parameters of each distribution are obtained. The results show that the path loss models for the WBAN on-body links in the 50GHz band follow the log-normal and normal distributions for different scenarios. This study provides insights into the performance of WBAN on-body links in the 50GHz band and provides a useful model for predicting the signal strength of on-body links in future studies.
