Abstract

Continuous effort in research and practical design has been necessary to obtain sufficient knowledge of the wind load on natural-draught cooling towers and of their structural response, and to achieve their high level of reliability. In this contribution, some further results are presented concerning the influence of wind profile on the static and quasistatic response and on the dynamic behaviour of the tower shell due to wind gustiness. An attempt is made to include the results in loading assumptions simplified for practical purposes.
