Abstract

Stating the obvious, and repeating it, can be tiresome but seem essential in all health care systems! Take, for instance, the notion of opportunity cost, which is much emphasised by economists. They argue that a decision to fund an expensive cancer drug of low cost-effectiveness consumes resources that could treat folk in the elective queue or patients with declining health because of the paucity of investment in chronic diseases.
