Abstract

Static pressure sensors as designed by Elliott [1], have been rebuilt and thoroughly tested. The accuracy of the mean static pressure measurements is better than 4% of the stagnation pressure for incidence angles less than 10°. The sensors were used in a field experiment. Mean static pressure profiles were measured around a thin closed fence. The static pressure profiles proved to be dependent on the thermal stratification of the atmosphere. The pressure difference around the barrier, however, decreased somewhat with height but was more or less independent of the thermal stratification.
