Abstract

Magnetic torque measurements are presented on the compound (C 2H 5NH 3) 2CuCl 4, whixh in the ordered state below 10.2 K consists of an antiferromagnetically ordered assembly of weakly coupled ferromagnetic layers. The small values of the intraplanar anisotropy field ( H A ≈ 70 oe) and the interplane interaction field ( H E ≈ 800 oe), make it possible to obtain a complete picture of the field induced changes of the magnetic structure at relatively low fields ( H < 15 koe).
