Abstract
Discussions 979 The discusser was very happy to read this paper with very interesting experimental data on the static liquefaction of sands just after he had submitted for publication a paper where he has applied the general equations provided by the principle of natural proportionality to describe this type of behaviour (Juarez-Badillo 1999). That paper contains a brief description of the origin of the general equations and the method of determining the values of the parameters from the experimental data. However, the general equations and their graphs applicable to the figures are included in this discus sion.
