Abstract

We study static kink solutions in a finite, discrete ferromagnetic Heisenberg spin chain with exchange anistropy, single-ion anisotropy and exchange interaction between nearest and next-nearest neighbours. The next-nearest-neighbour interaction has a prominent influence on the mobility and on the symmetry of the kink solutions. Calculations have also been done for the case of competing interactions, where a damped spatial oscillation of the kinks occurs. Most of the results have been obtained by numerical methods concerning the solution of systems of nonlinear equations.
