Abstract
The static field equations are investigated within the framework of a general class of scalar-tensor theories of gravitation proposed by Nordtvedt. In the Brans-Dicke and Barker theories, it is shown that in vacuum g00 is functionally related to the scaler field. Two families of exact solutions are also obtained for a static spherically symmetric gravitational field in Barker theory.
