Abstract

An analysis is made of the results of theoretical studies, experimental studies, and commercial trials of methods and equipment for the static forming of semifinished and finished products made of carbon-based powders and powder compositions with special properties. Both literature data and new results obtained at the South Ural State University are discussed. The article also examines experimental studies made of processes for the high-energy forming of specimens of preforms from pure graphite powder, graphite with a binder, graphite with a binder and copper powder, graphite with a binder and powdered coke, and graphite with coke and zinc stearate. High-energy forming was performed with speeds of 1.10–3.58 m/sec and energies of 212–2247 J at the Technical Center of the National University in Saint-Etienne, France.
