Abstract
A design basis for the static and fatigue strengths of cast steel nodes, in particular overlapping nodes, is presented. The load transfer mechanism in overlapping cast steel nodes is determined and design formulae are given for the permissible axial force of the incoming members. A fatigue design method for cast steel nodes is also presented, and allowable defect sizes in cast steel nodes are discussed.
