Abstract

This review paper presents a procedure and software application for static and dynamic analysis of solid and castellated I beam under different types of loading and supports conditions. The castellated beam is manufactured by cutting and re-welding of hot rolled sections with different shape and size of web openings. The main aim of this review is to study the application of various finite element analysis methods for the analysis and design of various solid and castellated I beams. The literature survey indicates that use of castellated I beam instead of solid I beam improves its structural performance.
