Abstract

This paper presents the closed loop analysis and design of a positive output switched capacitor DC-DC converter controlled using a PID controller. The state-space averaging approach is used for obtaining linear model of the converter circuit. Closed loop stability analysis for the converter is investigated using root locus technique. Using the combined operation of the switched capacitor and voltage lift-techniques, a converter of small size, high power density, high-voltage transfer gain, high power efficiency and low electromagnetic interference is constructed and tested. The distinctive feature of this converter is on chip power integrator. The simulation results are validated and verified with the experimental hardware results.
