Abstract
In July of 2011, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights issued a report entitled English-Only Policies in the Workplace.” This is the Commissioner Statement written by Commissioner Gail Heriot (also a Professor of Law at the University of San Diego) that was part of that report. The Statement discusses how Title VII is being applied far beyond what the Members of Congress who passed it intended and why the EEOC's policy on English-only policies is misguided.
